Over £4,300 raised at The Muddifords Cheese Run
The Muddifords Cheese Run was such an enormous success bringing the local community together to enjoy some exercise and the fun day at Muddifords Court on Sunday 8th October. The day was to raise funds and awareness for the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance and was well supported by local businesses such as Halberton Farm Shop. The Globe Inn and Ashfords solicitors as well as the main sponsor, cheese manufacturer, Wyke Farms.
We had nearly 200 people take part in the 5 mile walk or run in the morning. It was great to see so many children and families taking part and dogs enjoying a good mornings exercise along the Grand Western Canal before they arrived at the finish line at Muddifords Court.
Muddifords Court then laid on a fabulous fun day for everyone and their families to enjoy for the afternoon. Local 9-piece band Las Torders played live in the courtyard plus Heatwave Samba group from Uffculme school who were just brilliant. As well as bouncy castles and face painting we also had a raffle and an auction. All items were donated from local businesses around the county offering some truly great prizes, from a family pass at Killerton National Trust, Diggerland tickets, Tesco vouchers we had over 35 items to raffle!
We have had lots of donations this month since the event which has contributed to our total raised for the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance. We have raised £4300.26
Gina from the alliance said “we have been bowled over by the community support for the Muddifords event and for that we are truly grateful. It highlights how many people locally have been touched by dementia. I have personally received a number of messages from people sharing their stories. Additionally Nicky from Muddifords has already expressed her intention to run a similar event next October, so watch this space”.
We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all sponsors, marshals and volunteers who helped on the day as well as everyone who took part.
